BladeStop Improves Operator Safety at Carbon Processing Facility

Morgan Advanced Materials in Greenville, South Carolina have implemented their first of many BladeStop band saws into their electrical carbon processing facility.

In its Greenville plant, Morgan Advanced Materials are a world leader in advanced materials science, carbon, and composites. Operating in a series of well-defined markets where their applications expertise offers customers a valuable differentiator.

With a previous history of minor band saw-related injuries, Morgan Greenville began searching for a product that would protect their operators from the dangers of carbon processing. An initial search led Paul Shewmaker to BladeStop and a direct installation began.

I saw that BladeStop was being used in the meat cutting industry in Australia and I think this will work for Carbon, I got in touch with Scott and it went from there.”

Paul Shewmaker, - Director of HR & EHS

As band saws are used for the processing of Carbon, Morgan needed a solution to provide their band saw operators with a safer, risk-reduced environment.

We’ve now got one saw in operation, we have many saws that we need to solve this problem for. What we’ve seen is that the safety devices work perfectly, it really is something that makes all the differences for our operators – they love it!”

Paul Shewmaker, Director of HR & EHS

Since installation, BladeStop has potentially saved a number of injuries, with operators feeling more comfortable on the band saw.

“It makes me as an employee feel like the company really does care about their people when they decide to bring something in that will prevent us from injuring ourselves on the saw”

Vickie Acker, Operator.

BladeStop has allowed Morgan advanced Materials Greenville to continue processing carbon without any loss in production, but a significant gain in bandsaw operator safety.
